Actidata T-Pontis iSCSI Backup

Backup and archiving on tape is more than ever an important option to protect data from ransomware on the one hand and to store it in an energy-saving and climate-friendly way over long periods of time on the other.
It makes sense to have the backup at a second location or at least in a different computer room with a dedicated backup server.

It is easier if only the drive or the library has to be outsourced. Up to now, this has only been possible with Fibre Channel libraries, but this requires a dedicated FC network.
With the T-Pontis series from actidata, LTO drives and libraries can now also be connected via iSCSI and thus use existing Ethernet networks. This is made possible by a bridge that converts the SAS port of the drive to iSCSI.
This means that virtualized backup servers, for example, can also outsource the data from the computer room. The drives are then visible via the iSCSI initiator and can be accessed like normal SAS media by any backup software.

With the iSCSI connection, several systems can also access the library directly, or a backup server can write the data to two different fire protection zones.
In the case of individual drives, the bridge is integrated with the drive in a 1 U rack insert; in the case of libraries, the bridge is supplied in a separate 1 U housing.

actiLib for combination with T-Pontis iSCSI Bridge is also available as 1 U autoloader with 8 slots as well as scalable as Kodiak 3416 with 40 slots on 3 U and Kodiak 6807 with 80 slots on 6 U.
