ES-2800 mit 24 Festplatten
ES-2800 Storage Server mit NexentaStor Software bieten Storage Service auch für heterogene IT-Landschaften über NAS, iSCSI und optional auch über FC. Dabei können unterschiedliche Plattentypen verwendet werden, wobei ein schnelles RAIDset (z.B. mit SSD Festplatten) die Aufgabe eines Cachespeichers übernehmen kann um die Performance des Gesamtsystems zu erhöhen.
Die NexentaStor Software basiert auf OpenSolaris und dem ZFS Filesystem. In der kommerziellen Version kommt eine Weboberfläche und professioneller Support durch die Entwickler hinzu.
Das ZFS Filesystem hat zwei wesentliche Vorteile: Einerseits werden Daten nicht einfach überschrieben – was mit sich bringt, dass viele gleichzeitige Snapshots ohne Performanceeinbußen möglich sind. Andererseits werden zu Daten Prüfsummen hinterlegt, so dass Fehler (wie beispielsweise die gefürchtete „silent data corruption“) problemlos erkannt und repariert werden können. Zeitraubende Filesystemchecks entfallen.
ES-2800 Systeme können auch mit Erweiterungsports für praktisch beliebige Skalierbarkeit ausgestattet werden. Und diese Server gibt auch mit energiesparenden 2.5" Festplatten, sowie als hochverfügbare Cluster-Lösung.
