ES-6200 iSCSI/SATA
ES-6200 iSCSI⁄SATA RAID, 16 disks, 4 ports
iSCSI offers cost efficient provisioning of disk space to servers over long distances using existing 1 Gbit Ethernet Infrastructure. Much like Fibre Channel ist uses SCSI protocol, but encapsulated in IP packages, sent over Ethernet to the servers. On the server side the iSCSI packages have to be unpacked again. Appropiate drivers come with todays Microsoft server operating systems.
The new 16 bay systems are not only based in the new ASIC400 technology but are also equipped with 4 instead of 2 iSCSI ports plus one dedicated management port. They also allow IP mapping so provide storage capacity to up to 16 different servers.
ES-6200 are also available with Fibre Channel, SAS and Ultra320 SCSI interface, and also as RAID tower with SAS interface.
