EUROstor together with Nimble Storage at this year’s CeBIT

Among others iSCSI RAID systems with maximum I/O-performance on not too many disks will be presented at EUROstor’s booth

With its iSCSI RAID systems the young start-up storage company Nimble Storage really hit the mark: due to a new technological development the Nimble Storage CS systems make it possible to achieve I/O rates on iSCSI RAID systems which can normally only be achieved with a very high number of hard disk spindles.

This is possible due to the fact that only complete stripes of data compressed beforehand are written onto the disks. With a stripe length of 4.5 MB this means that virtually data are written sequentially onto the disks, allowing a very high and efficient data throughput for SATA disks, too.

In order to achieve a maximum throughput when reading data, SSDs are used as Read-Cache, with complete stripes as well, thus clearly reducing the wear of the SSDs, which only allow for a limited number of access operations during their life span.

Thanks to this new technology Nimble Storage CS systems are able to achieve extremely high I/O rates with only few hard disks and they are the optimum choice when being used together with I/O intense applications such as terminal virtualization, exchange servers etc.

Moreover, these systems dispose of redundant controllers which may be upgraded during ongoing operation; they are scalable on-the-fly and can be replicated optimizing the bandwidth – even via WAN.

Of course Thin Provisioning, virtually unlimited snapshots and zero-copy clones are also available.
